When I was I child, I used to envy my cousins who had a castle like house. I promised to myself that someday I will build a house prettier and larger than them. Lived by my insecurities and promise, I pursue my goal to start with my dream house. I realized how difficult it was to live through my dreams but my conviction sets foot to achieving my dream house. At first, I had no idea on what design of the house is suitable to our hometown in New York. All I wanted was a castle filled with vibrant colors and surrounded by a very green landscape—a seemingly perfect place for me!
Without any idea and creativity in planning my dream house, I looked at different magazines, but to no avail, I did not see anything that suits to my favorite style. So, I asked my friends to find a good architect for me but again and again they failed to find a perfect blueprint for my house.
In 2000, my husband decided to spend a vacation in Egypt. I was struck by the beauty and culture of Egypt but what caught my attention most was the Egyptian house. I saw it in the museums brochure, the tour guide said that the house was believed to be the home of an Egyptian queen. I loved the design and the hieroglyphics, so I asked the tour guide if it was possible to build an Egyptian house in New York. The guide was really appalled when I asked that , then he laughed and told me “There’s no mistake in trying!”
So, after we got home, I ran out quickly to my closest friend and asked his help to design an Egyptian inspired house or palace rather. My friend was surprised and said “You must be crazy! Do you want to live in a tomb” We both just laughed and started the design.
After eight months, I finally stepped in my Egyptian style house. If you would ask me how much I spent for the completion of my house? Dunno, if I should tell you,! If I spare a lot of money for my house, I shouldn’t regret because its one of the sources of my happiness.
The richness of Egyptian culture is within the borders of our home. The wall relief are very gorgeous it follows the wall sculpture from the temples. My friend, who have worked in Egypt, brought home some paintings and figurines. The kitchen and bathroom follows a semi-modern style that is relaxing to me and my husband’s mood. Whenever I get into our masters bedroom, I feel as if I were Queen Nefertiti pampered by my slaves.
However, a lot of my friends asked if I encounter problems when it comes to ny home renovation. I blatantly tell them that I always make sure that my house runs smoothly and efficiently. Problems that I have encountered recently were bathroom remodeling ny and kitchen remodel ny, but thank God I deal with it immediately!
